Week 5 Filming & Editing

During week 5, we were filming and editing our footage to create a final 30 second TV Advert, this was the most important week. On Tuesday, we were filming for two hours, this is where we had to rely on our pre-production paperwork because this would guide us on what shots to do productive in the amount of time given. We quickly got a variety of shots outside and inside to give us a choice on what to put into our final advert. Working within group to accomplish this task was really good as we worked cooperatively together without biting each other’s head off. I have learnt that the most important document when it comes to filming is your shooting schedule because it needs to be incredibly detailed so you get a range of shots and a variety. If your shooting schedule isn't clear enough it can causes time to be wasted due to heated debates amongst members of the crew on which shot to film next. One thing which I noticed that slowed down time was creating an unrealistic audience in the background which spoiled the shots. If I was to stop this from happening next time I would put restriction signs to board off an area, which will stop people trespassing in the filming area.

After we had filmed, we started to convert the footage back and we had to check each clip because we didn't stick to our shooting schedule because we had more shots than expected. This wasted a lot of valuable time as I had to look back through all the footage and make sure each shot was good and we weren't missing any shots. After we had completed converting all the footage onto our hard drives, we could begin to edit our footage and create my personal version of the TV Advert in the next lesson.

In Wednesday session I started to edit my footage and I had edited all my footage including my pack shot in two hours. I constantly looked back through my advert for any changes which needed to make to my advert. In Harry's lesson I continued to edit the sound of my advert. Here are the song tracks I used for my TV advert below;

Hold On   -

Daft Punk - (Tron Legacy Sound Track)

Editing the sound for my TV Advert didn't take that long, it only took two hours. After I had completed my first edit of my TV Advert, I got Andy to review my advert and tell me what he thought of it. He said that the composition was good and the variety of shots was good. However, he said that the narrative was a little confusing because it takes more than once to get the advert. Also, he said there was a lack of product placement. One last thing which Andy also mentioned was that a few of the shots were ruined because of an audience which was there one second and then the next second not there. These shots had to be taken off, but it didn't affect the narrative of the advert. My final advert was a lot better because I took Andy's feedback in careful consideration and changed some of the shots around to create more time. I showed Andy my final advert and he said it was a lot better.
